Tour de l’Europe, 24h de radio panoramique en direct

Le collectif artistique PiNode se joint au programme des Journées du Patrimoine en faisant tourner une locomotive miniature tout autour des fenêtres de l’ancien restaurant panoramique de la Tour de l’Europe ! Munie d’une caméra embarquée, elle va dévoiler Mulhouse d’une hauteur de 100 mètres pendant toute la journée du samedi 22 septembre.

Le restaurant panoramique et rotatif qui coiffe la Tour de l’Europe est fermé depuis 2018 mais continue d’alimenter les conversations des Mulhousiens de plusieurs générations. “Monter là-haut, c’est une expérience sensorielle étonnante, on a pas souvent l’occasion de prendre un ascenseur pour aller au 29e étage”, déclare Nicolas, salarié du collectif PiNode (disposant d’’une radio expérimentale émettant sur le réseau DAB+ à Mulhouse et Paris, avec un studio basé à Motoco), maître d’oeuvre d’un projet étonnant. “De là-haut, tu as un panorama que tu ne peux retrouver que dans les Vosges, tu vois la Suisse et l’Allemagne avec leurs antennes, mais aussi la vie en bas… On souhaite que la Tour rayonne comme une antenne radio ! Et comme on voit la Tour de partout, ce serait bien qu’on voit partout depuis la Tour”.

80 mètres de voie parcourus en quelques dizaines de minutes

Pour ce faire, Nicolas a eu l’idée d’installer une voie ferrée miniature faisant tout le tour de l’ancien restaurant, suivant un système de climatisation posé au pied des fenêtres. Une très jolie locomotive munie d’une caméra embarquée va circuler le long de cette voie à une allure très lente : “la locomotive et les 80 mètres de voie m’ont été fournis par Lehmann Gross Bahn, qui appartient à la fameuse marque allemande Märklin, sur simple demande de ma part ! Je crois que le restaurant effectuait une rotation en à peu près une heure, la locomotive va sûrement aller un peu plus vite mais ça restera très lent, on entrera dans un espace-temps particulier”… Comme les anciens clients du restaurant, les spectateurs du live vont découvrir Mulhouse se dévoiler progressivement au fil du temps, tandis que la journée va s’écouler au fil de la succession des ambiances célestes – on espère notamment admirer le lever et le coucher du soleil !

24h de direct

Pendant toute la journée du samedi 22 septembre, de minuit à 23h59, la vidéo sera à suivre en direct sur YouTube et sera agrémentée d’archives sonores et d’entretiens de Pi-Nod en lien avec l’histoire de Mulhouse, d’une conférence sur l’urbanisme et pourquoi pas d’expérimentations sonores en live depuis l’ancien restaurant… “Alors non, on ne va pas pouvoir ouvrir l’étage au public, pour des raisons de sécurité, précise Nicolas. Mais cette expérience peut être une première étape avant de refaire de cet espace un lieu de vie”… L’histoire continue pour le 31e étage de ce qui fut, à son inauguration en 1973, la tour la plus haute de France pendant quelques semaines (avant d’être détrônée par la Tour Montparnasse), et qui reste un symbole et un marqueur de la ville de Mulhouse.

Des artistes, musicien-ne-s, producteurs-trices radio, architectes, urbanistes, chercheur-se-s interviendront sur l’antenne pour raconter ce territoire par un biais particulier. Collectif PiNode : p-node.org
